                                  Valter Thomas White

#33 - Sheriff Valter Thomas White was elected on November 5, 1940; re-elected on
November 3, 1942 and served until January 6, 1943 when he went into the military service
during World War II.

He was born on February 20, 1909 in Maysfield.

He served three years in the Army. When he came home in 1946, he ran for Tax Collector
and was elected.

He has served in the office since that time, a period of thirty four years. He never had
an opponent.

Valter White lived in Milam County, Texas for sixty years.

He married Sarah White and they had no children.

When White went to the Army, his wife took over the office as Sheriff.

He was the son of Valter Lee White and Sarah Lavinia Maleleel Hildreth.

Valter White died on May 27, 1994 in Maysfield, Texas and is buried at the Pebble Grove
