#13 - Sheriff Herschel Crunk was elected on August 6, 1860 and served until August 1861.

He was born in Williamson County, Tennessee in 1825.

His first marriage was to Martha A. Smith on July 7, 1852.

He then married Mary Jane Floyd Lockley in 1862.

He had a son in his first marriage, Blackstone Crunk, and the following children in his
second: Lovelady, Emma, Herschel, Jeressha, Ada, James and Amanda.

He was 36 years of age at the time he was elected.

In January 1864, he enrolled into the 27th brigade of the Texas State Troopers, however
he was furloughed after 6 months and was issued a certificate of disability.

He is listed in the 1870 Federal Census as living in Milam Co., Texas, at age 46, a
farmer, married to Mary Jane Floyd Lockley with 3 children.

In the 1880 Federal Census, he is listed at age 55, living in Frio County, Texas.

Estimated time of death was between 1878—1918.
