Worley Bridge Re-Dedication Set June 22, 2014
Rockdale Reporter - June 11, 2014
The historic Worley Bridge over the San Gabriel River will be re-dedicated in a ceremony
at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22.
Geri Burnett, president of the Milam County Historical Society, is event chair for the
ceremony.
The 100-year-old bridge is located at the historic Apache Pass crossing of the San
Gabriel and was recently re-opened to light vehicular traffic after a three-year
reconstruction period.
“Replicas of two historical emblems have been placed on the bridge,” Burnett said.
“Originals for these emblems have now been placed at the Milam County Historical Museum
in Cameron.
Restoration of the bridge means County Road 428 is again open between FM 908 and FM 486.
“We are anticipating many Milam County officials and representatives of the Texas
Department of Transportation will be present for the ceremony,” Burnett said.
