The meeting was called to order by Dee Dee Green.  Guests were introduced:  Kay Harvey
Moseley, Community Heritage Development Division Director of Texas Historical Commission
was introduced.  Joy Graham, former MCHC Chair also attended.

Minutes of the June 2009 meeting were read.

OLD BUSINESS: Changes to paragraph three relating to a letter draft by MCHC’s member John
Reddington were discussed. Co chair, Geri Burnett agreed to change the wording of the
letter before it was mailed.  A motion by Willyne seconded by Elaine to make these
changes was made, vote taken, and carried.   (A copy of letter will be filed with these
minutes).

Dee Dee reported on the dedication of the Courthouse RTHL Marker and thanked personally
all those members who made this dedication a great success. Lucile took pictures of the
event and has made them available for record.  The RTHL Marker for the SPJST Hall was
dedicated and well attended by many people throughout the county.  Thanks were conveyed
to all who made this dedication such a success.

NEW BUSINESS:  Geri chaired the remainder of the meeting.  She announced a cemetery
workshop in Quitman Texas on Sept.5 2009 and Kay told about a Marker workshop to be held
in Bellville on September 9, 2009.  Members can get on the THC web site and find the date
and location of other THC workshops.

MCHC Preservation Trust Fund.  Neither Buckholts nor Milano have been visited, but Geri
has sent information to Milano and Dee Dee sent information to Buckholts.

MCHC will be selling Courthouse Books at the Cameron Fair.  Help will be needed to sell
books, maps and courthouse prints.

Reminder was made that pavers for the “Walk thru History” are for sale.  Members are
encouraged to take orders for such. 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Research & Markers: Willyne reported for Jackie Thornton who was absent.  Milam County
Courthouse and SPJST Hall in Buckholts were huge successes.
  
Archeology:  in the absence of Judy Slusher, Geri announced October is Texas Archeology
Month.  Dr. Thoms of Texas A&M University will be the guest speaker for the event to be
held in the District Courtroom of the Courthouse.
Refreshments will be served after the program in the Museum Annex. 

Heritage Tourism:  No report at this time.

Publicity:  Lucile asked members to contact her for any news articles they want in the
newspapers one week in advance.
                                                                                                                                
Oral History:  No report at this time.

CLG: Geri reported for Dolores Sonntag that the brochures for Cameron and Rockdale were
being developed.  She also reported that the Milam County, cities and Gause community
committee of the CLG Grant Map Committee met and work has begun to collect information
for the map.  Grants and funds are being sought to produce a minimum of 10,000 maps and
if enough funding is collected 15,000 will be published.  Distribution date goal is
January 2010.
           
Strategic Plan:  No report at this time.

El Camino Real: Lucile reported the work of Jeff Williams in locating trails through a
mapping process, details forthcoming on the NPS Management Plan and the trail logo that
are expected to be communicated soon.

Other:  Willyne suggested a calendar of dates with action plan details be made to help
follow the progress of MCHC.

Motion was made by Owen Rachel Graves to adjourn, seconded by Willyne, passed
unanimously.
