Hello, Thank you this website. I live in AR and the only way I can research my family lines in TX is over the
My question is: Is there any cemetery records that has been kept on the String Prairie Cemetery - or maybe
a cemetery association?
The family I have been researching is the Thomas B. May Family. He was 1st married to a Sarah Pond. After
she died he married her sister Elmira Pond McCord.
Thank you and I appreciate your time.

Thank you for contacting the Milam County Historical Commission.
I am forwarding your email to the MCHC members and to other interested and helpful contributors. Hopefully
you will be hearing from some of them shortly.
I did check the records in "170 Years of Cemetery Records in Milam County, Texas" by Norinne Holder Holman.
She not only visited every cemetery but she also researched records in the various places (Courthouse, etc).
I found the following info:
I found 3 May family members listed in the String Prairie Methodist Cemetery:
May (no first name shown) - child of Oke, no marker - no dates shown
May (no first name shown) - daughter of Carmon, no marker - no dates shown.
May, Julian - no marker, no dates shown
This would mean that records show these three were buried in String Prairie but the actual gravesites were not
There is a Sarah May - w/o W. E. - 1844-1925 buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.
I found several other burials of May family members in other cemeteries but not matching the names you seek.
Hopefully members of the MCHC and MCGS may have additional info for you and will contact you directly.
Shirley, there is a picture of Thomas B May's C.S.A. tombstone in 'Find a Grave'.
I am not related, but subscribe to Ancestry. There are several family trees of his family in Ancestry.
