I am currently in the process of purchasing a piece of land. When I was out looking at the property there was a very old basement of what looked like to be a house. It's surrounded by large trees and some of them are coming out of the foundation. I'm looking to see if there is any history on this property. The foundation looks to be at least 100 years old. The property in question is on CR 353 across from the Anadarko pumping station. I do not have an address.

Thank you.

Mr. Keeler,

Would you happen to have the Milam County Appraisal District ID for the below mentioned parcel of property or the current owners name?.  From that information, I should be able to ID the property in which you are referring.

I did drive CR 353 yesterday, but unfortunately I had a late start from College Station. Therefore I lost daylight while driving the wet/boggy road and was unable to see the Anadarko  pumping station for location reference.

If you don't have the ID and are able to identify the property location by the MCAD map, here's their website. http://www.milamad.org/ . Choose maps, respond 'yes' to the disclaimer, close additional info boxes and zoom in on Gause and CR 353. When you zoom in close enough, the property ID's  will appear. When you double click on them, the property ownership details will appear.

I attempted to search for the Anadarko property by that name, but it brought up numerous pages of property mineral rights interests.

The ID will obviously allow me to reverse search the record book deeds at the County Clerk's Office. Knowing the earlier owner names and a reference book, "Gause, Texas, A Legacy in Pieces", might help answer your question. This excellent reference, which was published in 1997 and is no longer in print, tells of the history of Gause and many of its earlier residents. Our local libraries hold that reference.

The MCHC also has three mature, long term residents residing in that community and they may be able to share some information on said property if you're able to point it out for us.

Mr. Keeler,
Now that I have the property ID and Record book and page, I'll see what  I'm able to come up with in Cameron. The adjoining Snellgro and Epperson properties with their much earlier record book dates might lead to a possible cull-out of the parcel in question due to their consecutive ID numbers. I must admit that I'm a layman at this but do sometimes surprise myself.

Thank you for your quick response. This is the property that I had mentioned. Like I said. There is foundation of an old home on the property about 50- 100 ft off the road on the right hand side of the entry gate. I'm just really curious to see if it has any history. Thank you again.
