I was wondering if I could see a grave of a particular person through an online cemetery search on your site.
I didn't see one on there.  His name is James Floyd Morton and died 11/18/1960.  He was buried there in
Sand Grove Cemetery on 11/20/1960.  Thanks

Mr Morton,
We have no online viewing of individual gravesites on our site.
I will post your request and will email it to the members of the Milam County Historical Commission.  If no one
responds, I will be in Milam County one day this week and I will get photos for you.

Rick, I attended school with Herbert Wayne Morton (1931-2007). His father was James Benjamin Morton (1873-
1960).
John Claude (1890-1918) and James Benjamin (1873-1960) were brothers. John Claude was the father of James Floyd
1915-1960.
James Benjamin's family lived and were buried in the Black Jack Community cemetery where my paternal
grandmother is buried. I'm guessing James Floyd is buried at San Grove because his mother was a Bankston.
You probably know all this, but if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. I knew Mr and Mrs
Morton and ten of their children.

Mr. Morton,
Please find the attached headstone photo of Mr. Morton. If you would like an obituary for him, let me know and
I'll check the Lucy Hill Patterson Library micro-tape archives to see if one is available.
Respectfully, Jack Brooks

Mr. Morton, The Nov. 24th edition of the weekly Rockdale Reporter newspaper did have an obituary for Mr.
Morton. Unfortunately it was only marginally legible  and then with a struggle. Either the newspaper was badly
faded when copied or there was a problem with the development of the Micro-tape. You'll have to forgive my
"leap of faith" deciphering the same.

Since the copy was of such  poor quality, I visited our local Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home thinking that
they might have performed the services. They hadn't.  Once I arrived home and spent more time trying to
decipher the obituary, I found that Mr. Morton expired in San Antonio. His death certificate and mortuary(Alamo
Funeral Home) were then  found to be in Bexar County.

Mr. Morton,
I did research the Micro-tape archives of the Cameron Herald newspaper and no obituary was printed in the
three weeks following Mr. Morton's death.
