I am interested in visiting two Griffin Cemeteries in Milam County. Griffin Chapel is of interest as is Griffin Cemetery. Both appear to be on private property. Can anyone with the historical commission obtain permission to visit the cemeteries, or point me to the person to contact?
Your help is appreciated.

(James Clark Griffin is my 2nd great grandfather-he enlisted in the Civil War but became sick and died in Milam County). I have not been able to located his burial site nor his widow Caroline Killough Griffin's burial site. She and children remained in Milam Co after the Civil War.

I have been to Griffins Chapel in the last couple of years. I photo inventoried the whole cemetery and it is on FindaGrave. It is a African American Cemetery. Mr. Richard Melton has the key to get into the cemetery.
You might also look at Prospect Cemetery, it is very old but not maintained. I did find some Griffin’s buried there when I tried to photo inventory it a few years ago as well.
Griffin’s Cemetery and Griffins Chapel cemetery are not near each other, but Griffins Chapel and Prospect are. Prospect is a white cemetery.
Sincerely,
Holly Jentsch
